Odisha marks highest number of COVID-19 cases in over 3 months

Odisha: Odisha on Tuesday witnsssed the largest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases in over three months, with 680 more persons testing positive, according to the state's health department.

According to a report, the daily positivity rate increased to 1.31 percent, with 119 youngsters among those found positive in the previous 24 hours. The most new cases were reported in Khurda with 263 infections, followed by 69 in Sundargarh and 59 in Cuttack, according to the report. 

On Monday, the state had 424 COVID-19 instances. There were 734 infections on September 22.  The death toll rose to 8,464 with the death of a 50-year-old man from the Balasore area. After an audit, the department confirmed that these deaths were caused by COVID-19. According to the data, 53 other COVID-19 patients have died as a result of comorbidities.

The total number of infections has risen to 10,56,660, with 2,888 active cases. So far, more than 10.45 lakh people have recovered, with 146 patients recovering in the previous 24 hours, according to the report.  After evaluating 51,745 samples, the new cases were detected.
