Prisoners are limited to meeting their relatives in jail due to fear of corona infection, but now queues are being taken to go online for various purposes from other states, telangana jails and correction services have introduced virtual 'Mulakats', allowing family members to meet the prisoners through virtual platforms like Skype.

It should be noted here that if the prisoners' family members are allowed to meet in the prison premises, the department has stopped the physical 'Mulakats' in view of the present situation and during the epidemic. Instead, prisoners are now allowed to call Skype with their loved ones. It allows telephone calls on registered mobile phone numbers and is allowed four times a week in five minutes from the landline in jail.

However, it makes the process easier and makes it safe randy on both sides. As for Skype calls, officials asked the prisoners' family members to log in to the National Prisonportal and enter their details along with the name of the prisoner before making a video call. Once they submit all the required details, they will get one time password on the mobile number they entered. Officials said otp has a Skype meeting link, who uses smartphones should download the Jitsi Meat app.
