VARANASI: In a move inspired by the Smart City missions aimed at transforming cities through technology, the ongoing International Temples Convention and Expo (ITCX) 2023 has introduced "Smart Temples Connect" by Temple Connect.

The mission's primary objective is to equip temple ecosystems with cutting-edge technologies, focusing on green and plastic-free practices. Moreover, it plans to conduct thorough audits to establish better Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)," stated Giresh Kulkarni, the founder of ITCX 2023 and Temple Connect.

This mega event has brought together stakeholders from 250 temples worldwide, creating a remarkable knowledge-sharing platform that showcases innovative products, services, and initiatives.

At the Rudraksh Convention Centre in Varanasi, over 1,000 delegates participate in various talks, sessions, and case studies on the management and administration of temple ecosystems.

"The Smart Temple Mission aims to provide support to mid and smaller temples, which often lack guidance and face stagnant growth. Through audits and initiatives, we seek to empower the entire temple-dependent ecosystem, including phoolwalas, restaurants, transport services, and tourism guides in these cities, elevating their growth to new heights," added Kulkarni.

A novel initiative called the "Social Influencer's Connect" brings together social media influencers in the realm of devotion, spirituality, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The goal is to rally support for smaller temples and different charitable causes associated with them.

ITCX 2023 also witnessed the unveiling of the trailer for "Shivlings of Kashi," a book inspired by Kashi Khand and Ling Puran, authored by PS Venkataramanan and his wife, Lalitha V. The book is a comprehensive compilation of Kashi's Shivlings, notable temples, and various elements related to Indian spirituality, offering a profound insight into the spiritual realm.

The trailer took on a documentary format, hinting at the possibility of a web series or YouTube-based show centered around the "Shivlings of Kashi."

Temple Connect, through Annadan.com, has taken the initiative of connecting approximately 1,000 temple food distribution centers across India. Devotees can visit the website on special occasions or birthdays, choose a temple or an institution such as assisted living facilities, schools, or orphanages, and select the number of food plates they wish to donate. By clicking on "submit" and making the necessary payments, they contribute to bridging the gap between donors - individuals or corporate entities - and the beneficiaries, ensuring the efficient distribution of food.
