Melbourne: Camila Giorgi, an Italian tennis player, has refuted claims that she fraudulently obtained a COVID-19 vaccination certificate in order to travel.

Giorgi's name was revealed in a long list of people implicated by an Italian newspaper, including a doctor who is being investigated in Italy for providing phoney certificates and fake vaccines.

After defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-0, 6-1 on Tuesday at the Australian Open, Giorgi acknowledged that she had seen a doctor, but insisted that nothing had gone wrong.

She explained, "I just got all my shots in different places, so the problem is hers, not mine. "With that said, I'm at ease. I suppose I wouldn't be able to come here and play tennis if that weren't the case.

Giorgi claimed that both the Italian doctor and healthcare professionals in other nations immunised her.

“Once. I administered the other vaccination in various locations, which is what I'm attempting to explain, the woman said.

At the conclusion of the media conference on Tuesday at Melbourne Park, her father, Sergio Giorgi, who was seated in the back of the interview room, said: "Unbelievable, no questions about tennis."

Tennis Australia's CEO Craig Tiley claimed he was not completely aware of the claims regarding the fake certificate prior to the competition.

There's still a lot to be learned about that, he said, and it will ultimately be up to their family and the appropriate authorities, including the tour. "I'm not really sure,"
