CHARLESTON:  Elina Svitolina is set to make her return to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour next month at the Charleston Open, which will be played from April 1-9.

Before taking a break and welcoming her first child, daughter Skai, with her husband and fellow tennis professional Gael Monfils, Svitolina last competed a year ago in Miami. Svitolina started documenting her return to training on social media after Skai was born in October.

Raemon Sluiter will be the Ukrainian's new coach when she makes a comeback. According to a report from the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Sluiter, who is most known for having coached the now-retired Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens to the Top 10, will be guiding Svitolina in her comeback.

To support Ukraine and the Elina Svitolina Foundation, Svitolina will host an unique Tennis Plays for Peace Pro-Am in April in collaboration with the Charleston event and WTA Charities.

"For us as a competition and for our players, it is crucial to raise money and awareness for Ukraine. We are passionate about working with Elina to better embody the objective of Tennis Plays for Peace and stand together with Ukraine since she has a deep and personal awareness of the issues in her home country at this time "In a statement, event director Bob Moran said.
