What was the Kandahar hijack?

On December 24, 1999, Indian Airlines flight IC-814, which was taking off from Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, to Delhi, was hijacked. At 5.30 pm, terrorists of the terrorist organization Harkat-ul-Mujahideen hijack it. By evening, everyone knows, a flight to India has been hijacked. Landing in Amritsar, Lahore and Dubai, the terrorists take the plane to Kandahar in Afghanistan. There were 176 passengers on board, of which 27 were abandoned in Dubai. But a passenger named Rupin Katyal was stabbed to death and many were injured. The passengers had started protesting on the plane. The Taliban deployed their armed fighters near the hijacked aircraft in an attempt to prevent Indian special forces from attacking the aircraft. The kidnapping continued for eight days and ended after India released three terrorists – Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh (who was later arrested for the murder of Daniel Pearl) and Maulana Masood Azhar (who later founded Jaish-e-Muhammad). Now the Mistry Zahoor Ibrahim, who has been killed in Karachi, was involved in this plane hijack.
