Srinagar: A 70-year-old Punjabi goldsmith (jeweler) was shot to death in Srinagar in a market in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident is from Sarai Bala area of Srinagar. On Thursday, motorcycle-riding terrorists opened fire on the jeweler. The deceased had been living in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 40 years. He received a permanent residence certificate (Domicile) only a few months ago. He had also bought a house and shop for this.

The murder of Satpal Nischal, originally from Amritsar, has been claimed by the Pakistan-backed terrorist organization The Resistance Front (TRF). Posting this incident on Facebook, TRF stated that, "The new law relating to Domicile is unacceptable. Apart from the original Kashmiris, everyone who builds property here will be treated like a 'occupier'. There is much more to be done."

Let us tell you that the name of this terrorist organization was first revealed in March 2020. It calls itself the United Liberation Front of Jammu and Kashmir, which later became TRF. It is also associated with banned terrorist organizations Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen. After the new law relating to Domicile comes into effect, Nischal is the first person to be targeted as such. He was also the owner of Srinagar-based Nischal Jewelers.
