Terrorist throws hand grenade at historic temple in Hiranagar, search operation continues

Srinagar: The grenade attack on the ancient fortified temple in Jandi area adjoining the Hiranagar sector on the India-Pakistan international border was a shock. The terrorists missed their target in the attack. No injuries are reported. Security forces laid siege to the entire area and conducted a search operation. The blockade was also carried out on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

Till late night, the security forces had no clue of the terrorists. Police recovered a pin of the grenade from the scene. Six terrorists have been arrested while preparing for the attack on temples in Poonch and Jammu during four days from 25 December. This attack in Hiranagar of Kathua district is being considered part of the same conspiracy of Pakistan. SSP Kathua Dr Shailendra Mishra said that the grenade was thrown at a temple in Hiranagar sector at 7.30 pm. However, the attackers missed their target. It has not caused any harm.

The officer has told that the security forces are conducting search operations covering the entire area. There are many routes of infiltration of terrorists in Hiranagar sector, but after a long time, there have been incidents of terrorist attacks in the area.
