The arrival of electric vehicle giant Tesla in India has been highly awaited. The carmaker has received clearance to manufacture or import four of its models in the nation, bringing it one step closer to realizing this dream. According to Bloomberg, the four Tesla models have been certified as roadworthy in India, quoting a notice on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' website.

According to the website, Tesla's four models meet the Indian market's safety and pollution regulations. According to the posting, "the tests verify the cars meet the standards of the Indian market in terms of pollution, safety, and roadworthiness. "These models are likely the variants of Model 3 and Model Y, as earlier reported by a Tesla fan club.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has stated that a plant in India is "very likely" provided the company can first assess the market by importing cars. The electric vehicle manufacturer has also been pressing for a reduction in import taxes, tweeting last month that the country's import charges are among the highest in the world. According to him, the country considers clean energy cars the same as gasoline, which is incompatible with the country's climate goals.

The Indian government has urged the EV maker to start building up local procurement and provide specific production plans before its proposal for a tax reduction is approved, according to news agencies earlier this month.
