USA: Robots like the humanoid one proposed by Tesla may soon be built. The business showed a video of its bipedal "Optimus" robot walking, identifying objects, and picking them up at its annual shareholder meeting.

Compared to the last year's prototype, which was unable to do any work, this makes it a vast improvement. In what ways has Optimus changed since its release? Observe and learn.

Elon Musk, the company's CEO, revealed in 2021 that a "friendly" humanoid robot was being developed by Tesla.A screen would be on its face, it would stand five feet eight inches tall, and it would weigh about 57 kg.

The company's Autopilot driver assistance software would be utilised by the bot, which would be used for "unsafe, boring, or repetitive" tasks. The thought at the time seemed cool.

The Optimus robot prototype was made public by Musk last year. He asserted that it utilised some of the same AI software and sensors as Tesla's Autopilot.Without a tether, the robot could move around and wave its hands like a human. It featured Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity, a 2.3kWh battery, and a Tesla SoC. But walking was not possible. It took an additional year to further improve it.

Thanks to onboard cameras and sensors, Optimus can now walk slowly (as if it has a pinched nerve in its back), show motor torque control (ability to change hand grip strength), and explore/remember environments. It is also possible to train AI using "human-tracked movements".It has also shown that it is capable of handling various objects with its hands. These tasks are extremely challenging for humanoid robots.

In the US market, the Optimus is anticipated to cost less than $20,000 (roughly Rs. 16.5 lakh). Once Tesla starts shipping its eagerly anticipated Cybertruck, the robot will likely move to production.

Optimus, according to Tesla, could revolutionise the company's manufacturing and assembly line operations and lead to a "fundamental transformation of civilization."

The robot will move into mass production in "millions" of units and could eventually replace workforces that require a lot of labour. The performance of Optimus against Atlas, a much more capable humanoid robot from Boston Dynamics that can run, climb, and do other things, remains to be seen
