Chennai: Chennai based TVS Motor Company is preparing to launch its biggest streetfighter motorcycle Apache RTR 310 in India soon.

The design of the upcoming middleweight offering is likely to be inspired by the Draken concept showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. When released, the sporty motorcycle will compete with the likes of the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and the Bajaj Dominar 400.

In India, KTM, BMW and Bajaj have dominated the middleweight streetfighter motorcycle market. However, TVS Motor Company now intends to win the sub-400cc championship with its upcoming Apache RTR 310 model. With established competitors, the newcomer will face a tough challenge. Let's take a look at the new contender's arsenal.

The updated, BS6-compliant 312cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine of the Apache RR 310, the fully-faired sibling of the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 310, is going to power the vehicle.

The mill should generate a maximum of 33.5 horsepower and 27.3 Nm of maximum torque. The RTR 310 will also get different engine tunes for each riding mode, just like its supersport counterpart.

The 2014 Draken concept is expected to serve as an inspiration for the design of the TVS Apache RTR 310. A toned fuel tank with angular tank extensions, an angular LED headlamp with DRLs, a wide handlebar with sporty looking mirrors, split-type seats, upswept exhaust, a slim tail section with split-type grilles, light alloy wheels , and a sleek LED taillamp will all be features of this motorcycle.

The upcoming TVS Apache RTR 310 will also be a part of the brand's Built to Order (BTO) program like the RR 310. Potential buyers will have the opportunity to upgrade their motorcycle with upgraded hardware parts under the factory customization program, such as fully adjustable suspension units, a "TVS Racing" paint scheme with sporty decals, and painted alloy wheels.

The best-in-class Michelin Road 5 tyres, which are currently equipped on the TVS Apache RR 310, should also be made available for the soon-to-be-released TVS Apache RTR 310.

For middleweight and litre-class motorcycles intended primarily for road use, the premium tires are regarded by critics as one of the best options. Tires offer a good compromise between long life and performance.
