Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh): The Andhra Pradesh government has approached the High Court against the verdict of the state election officer Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar gram panchayat. The state government filed a petition in the High Court on Saturday seeking the cancellation of the returning officer's order.

The Petition was asked by The Chief Secretary of the PanchayatRaj Department Gopalakrishna Dwivedi to cancel the instructions issued by the Election Officer, cancel the programme of the Panchayat elections and postpone the code of conduct and transfers. It also demanded interim orders in this regard.

The petition filed by the State Election Commission secretary, Union Home Secretary, Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary and state election officer Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has been made defendants. Dwivedi said in his petition that the Supreme Court had instructed the state government to consult the state government before declaring the date of the election. The High Court has directed the state government to submit all its concerns and objections to the Election Commission in writing.

Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said the government had put its concerns and objections before the returning officer with evidence on the directions and orders of the court. But before getting a copy of the High Court, the election officer wrote to the Chief Secretary and Panchayat Raj Commissioner to negotiate lemon. The petition filed will be heard on Monday.

Let us inform you that election officer Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has released the schedule on Friday that the panchayat elections will be held in four phases. The election officer has ordered the government to arrange for elections on February 5, 9, 13 and 17. At the same time, 17 votes were ordered to be counted and sarpanch and upasarpanch elections on the same day. The election code of conduct was announced in the state from Friday.
