Agra: A farmer couple attempted suicide by hanging themselves in a village in Fatehpur Sikri in the Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. The couple hung from the neem tree with the same rope, but due to the weight of the wife, the rope broke and the noose opened. Because of this, the wife's life was saved, but the husband died. Kisaan Man Singh alias Kalua has only one bigha of farmland. With the earnings from which he used to feed his family. The Kalua couple has three daughters and a son.
All four children are married. Son Yogesh, 28, lives in Mathura with his wife and works as a labourer. After the incident, the villagers informed the police. The police reached the spot and admitted the seriously injured wife to the hospital for treatment and sent the husband's body for postmortem. Man Singh, a resident of Giloy village under Fatehpur Sikri police station area, left his house with his wife Santa Devi around 12 noon on Monday. He hanged himself with his wife in the forest, about 300 metres from the village. Man Singh died on the spot, while Santa's weight was high due to which the rope broke and she fell down. With a rope noose around her neck, Santa Devi started running from the forest towards the house in an inebriated condition.
On the way, two constables of police post Chauma Shahpur were seen. The constables opened the rope from Santa Devi's neck and called the ambulance. At the same time, by the time Kalua was removed from the tree, Man's breath had stopped. Santa's condition in the hospital also remains critical. Police have sent Man Singh's body for postmortem. According to the family, Man Singh had gone to his farm saying that he would pluck vegetables, but in the forest, he tied a rope on the tree. According to the people of the village, the couple has taken a suicidal step due to domestic and financial constraints. Police are investigating the case.
