Ahmedabad: Thieves snatched a bag full of rupees from a man's hand near Vastrapur Lake (Vastrapur) in Ahmedabad. According to the information received, the person works in a financial company. He was talking on the phone when the accident took place. Suddenly, a 30-year-old man entered his car with chili powder in his eyes and snatched a bag full of rupees, and fled. However, the accused was later arrested along with the rupees.

The accused was caught with the help of an old man otherwise he would have taken the money and fled. The two-wheeler rider accused was immediately taken to the police. The bag contained Rs 12 lakh while police also recovered Rs 2 crore kept in the car. In-charge DCP (Zone-1) Harshad Patel said the incident took place around 3 pm on Monday. He said, 'Sunil Chauhan and Satish Patni, employees of Grow More Sarafa Trading Company in Naranpura, collected cash from a bank in Vastrapur and kept it in their car. Meanwhile, Ankur Modesra, a resident of Chandlodia, hunted them down.'

Patel said, 'Modesra parked his scooter in front of his car, quietly approached Chauhan. Chauhan was talking on the phone when the accused put chili powder in his eyes. Before Chauhan could understand anything, Modesra moved to the other side of the car. The door opened, picked up the bag, and ran towards his two-wheeler. However, Chauhan chased and caught hold of the vehicle. The 30-year-old accused had to leave the scooter and run away on foot.' Eyewitnesses said Modesra tried to hide behind a car, but an elderly man noticed a commotion and informed the Vastrapur police after which he was arrested. Patel said police will investigate whether Modesra was involved in any other robbery or crime before.
