Lucknow: A man allegedly beat his wife and then electrocuted her to death in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district, police said on Sunday. After killing the woman, the accused husband buried the body in the same room where he lived. The matter came to light three days later, when the woman's mother-in-law (the accused's mother) reported it to the police. On Friday midnight, the police recovered the body and arrested the accused husband.

According to the report, the incident took place in Hafizpur mohalla of Gola town. An elderly woman, Asia Begum, told Kotwali police on Friday night that her daughter-in-law Afsha Fatima was missing and the son was not telling anything about her. After receiving the information, the police reached the house at midnight and searched the house, and found soil carved in the room of the house. When the police took Afsha's husband Vashi into custody and dug the room, Afsha's body was found buried inside the room.

Inspector Gola DP Shukla has informed that the accused youth Vashi beat up his wife Afsha and later electrocuted her. When the woman succumbed to her injuries, he buried her inside the room of the house. He did not inform anyone about this. Wasi's mother had gone to Kanpur. When she returned, she did not find her daughter-in-law. Suspecting his son's actions, she informed the police. CO Gola Rajesh Kumar has informed that there are no apparent injury marks on the woman's body, but the accused has admitted that she was electrocuted. The police are currently interrogating him.
