Srinagar: The impact of the reduction in terror funding from Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir is now evident among the separatists. Ever since the National Investigation Agency (NIA) expanded its probe into terror funding, the funding of separatists from Pakistan has been showing a significant decline. For the first time, all the top Kashmiri separatist leaders, including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, are worried about how to overcome this funding crunch.

According to Home Ministry sources, the separatists are now trying to raise funds in Kashmir in the name of donations to help terrorists in Kashmir. Intelligence agencies also said in a report sent to the central government that several separatists, including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, cried out for lack of funding during a meeting between Hurriyat leaders.

According to the report of the agencies, during Ramadan last month, the separatists collected money in the name of charity. In Srinagar, the separatists also collected money from various mosques in the valley in the name of donations during Shab-e-Qadr.

A top Home Ministry official told the media that since agencies like NIA, ED and Income Tax have reined in terror funding from Pakistan, its impact in the Valley has become apparent. The amount of money that Pakistan receives from terrorists and separatists has come down.
