Sheohar: In a shocking incident, 65-year-old Jagdish Rai, a social worker, and husband of former Madhopur Chhata chief Jaimala Devi was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Bihar's Sheohar district. The incident triggered a sensation in the area. On receiving the news of the incident, the police reached the spot and took possession of the body, and sent it for post-mortem.

The incident took place at 5 pm. Jagdish Rai was returning to his home in Madhopur Chhata under the Hiramma police station area from Sheohar on a bike. After receiving the information, a police team led by SDPO Sanjay Kumar Pandey reached the spot and started investigating the case. The police claimed to nab the culprits as soon as possible. Police have recovered a bike of criminals from the spot. He has been taken into custody and one person has been detained and is being interrogated. Locals told the police that Jagdish Rai was shot at by miscreants near Bans Gachhi. After the people present on the spot raised an alarm, the criminals panicked and fled leaving the motorcycle. After this incident, there is an atmosphere of panic among the people around the family.

Sheohar SP Anant Kumar Rai said after a phone conversation that the culprits have been identified. Soon this whole matter will be revealed. Raids are being conducted in Sareh to nab the culprits. Police have also recovered a pistol shell from the spot.
