Shahdol: A young woman living in Kasturba Gandhi Girls Hostel in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, became pregnant. She gave birth to a baby girl in the hostel. Thereafter, she killed the newborn and dumped the body on the hostel premises. When people saw the body, they informed the police. The police took the body into custody and conducted a post-mortem. After that, when the investigation started, the whole matter came to light. The police have arrested the criminal student as well as the man who had a relationship with her.

On November 20, police received information that the body of a newborn was lying in a garbage dump behind the hostel at Kasturba Gandhi Girls Hostel in Pandavnagar. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot. The police seized the body. When the post-mortem of the body was conducted, it was found that the newborn died due to severe head injury. The police have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC against unidentified persons. During the investigation, it was found that the 18-year-old girl, who lives in a village in Gohparu, lives in Kasturba Hostel. She is a student of 12. The girl was having an affair with a man from the village.

After the relationship between the two, the girl became pregnant. She then gave birth to a baby girl on November 18. The girl somehow kept the baby one day after delivery in the hostel. The next day, on November 19, she killed the newborn by throwing her on a sheet in the bathroom for fear of being defamed. After the murder, the body was thrown on the hostel premises. Shahdol DSP Raghvendra Dwivedi said that during the police investigation, it was found that the girl of the hostel was in a relationship with a person she knew. Due to the physical relationship between the two, the student became pregnant, but the student kept this secret from her family. The student gave birth to the newborn in the hostel itself.
