Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made a big announcement. He said on Sunday that senior citizens of the state will be sent for pilgrimage by plane from March under the government scheme. He was speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Saint Ravidas in Bhind and the launch of the development journey of the Chambal division. He said, "The birthplace of Saint Ravidas will also be included in this government pilgrimage scheme. It is known as Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana. We will also fly senior citizens for pilgrimage."
Under 'Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana', eligible senior citizens above 60 years of age can visit any of the listed pilgrimage places at government expense. While addressing the gathering, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also said that Bhind will be upgraded as a Municipal Corporation. Bhind city will also get a medical college. It currently has a municipal council. 'Vikas Yatra' will visit all the wards to provide benefits of government schemes to the eligible people. The yatra will end on February 25.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is also taking the elderly on pilgrimage. Under this, any person living in Delhi, whose age is 60 years or more, can apply under this scheme (MMTY). Senior citizens can also take one attendant with them who is above 21 years of age. Any person fulfilling the eligibility conditions can take advantage of this scheme only once in his lifetime.
