New Delhi: The SP 125 motorcycle from Japanese automaker Honda has made its Indian debut. The vehicle's highlights include a fashionable design, fresh colour choices, and an OBD-2-compliant engine. In our market, the two-wheeler competes with the TVS Raider at its price point. Which, though, is a wiser decision? Take a look at that.

The Honda SP 125 features a powerful fuel tank with extensions, a one-piece seat with a body-colored pillion grab rail, a side-mounted exhaust with a chromed heatshield, an LED headlamp, and a digital instrument panel. There are five colours available.

The TVS Raider is equipped with alloy wheels, split-style seats, a side-mounted exhaust, an all-LED lighting system, and arrowhead-shaped mirrors. It also has a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth functionality.

The Honda SP 125 has an 11.2 litre fuel tank and a 1,285 mm wheelbase. Its kerb weight is 116 kg. The Raider weighs 123 kg, has a 1,326 mm wheelbase, and can hold 10 litres of fuel.

The Honda SP 125 has a 123.9cc, 4-stroke engine with a top output of 10.7hp and 10.9Nm of torque. The TVS Raider, on the other hand, is powered by a 124.8cc, air-and-oil-cooled engine that produces a maximum of 15.3hp and a maximum of 11.2Nm of torque. On both motorcycles, a 5-speed gearbox handles transmission duties.

The Honda SP 125 has a CBS for improved handling, a front disc/drum brake, and a rear drum brake. A synchronised braking system and a similar setup are included with the TVS Raider. Telescoping front forks are equipped with both bikes. They each have a gas-charged, five-step adjustable mono-shock absorber and hydraulic-type springs on the back.

The Honda SP 125 has a starting price of Rs. 85,131 and a maximum price of Rs. 89,131 in India. In the meantime, the TVS Raider is priced between Rs. 86,803 and Rs. 1 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).

Both bikes are competitive, but we favour the SP 125 due to its small size, more safety features, and marginally lower price tag than its rival.
