India has immense potential to lead the world. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan will take over as the Executive Board President of the World Health Organization (WHO) on 22 May. Dr. Harsh Vardhan is one of the leading people in India's war against COVID-19. He will replace Dr. Hiroki Nakatani of Japan, who is the current chairman of the board of 34 members of the WHO.

The proposal to induct India into the WHO Executive Board was approved on Tuesday. 194 countries signed the proposal. The South East Asia Group of WHO unanimously decided last year that India be elected to the Executive Board for a three-year term.
