'Nagaland violence' issue resonated in Parliament, Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 pm

New Delhi: The proceedings of the ongoing winter session of Parliament resumed on Monday, the fifth day. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will introduce two bills in the Upper House for discussion and passage. These include the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Bill, 2021 and the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2020. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is also likely to address the House today.

In the lower house of Parliament, the Health Minister will also present the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2021 for consideration and passage. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju is also scheduled to introduce the High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Pay and Conditions of Service) Amendment Bill, 2021 in the House. Meanwhile, the House has been adjourned till 2 pm following an uproar by opposition leaders in the high court. In fact, opposition leaders in the Rajya Sabha had raised an uproar over the Nagaland violence, which Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address the House today.

Leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and several other opposition members picketing in the Parliament premises on Monday against the suspension of 12 MPs suspended for the remaining period of the winter session over "indecent conduct" in the Rajya Sabha during the monsoon session of Parliament. Twelve suspended opposition members who have been protesting every day since the suspension still picketing in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament premises. Kharge and several other opposition MPs rushed to support him and raised slogans against the government.
