Chennai: A report of sexual assault has been filed against a serving police inspector by the All-Woman Police in Marthandam, Tamil Nadu.

The officer is attached to the police station in Theni The woman is a divorcee and was living away from her family and her 9-year-old daughter was admitted to a school hostel. The woman in her complaint lodged before a Magistrate court said that after separation she was in a relationship with a neighbourhood youth after he had promised to marry her.

Instead of marrying her, the woman claimed that the teenager had exploited her and then defrauded her. She claimed to have filed a complaint with the Palukal police station in the Kanniyakumari district. Under the pretence of assisting her, the woman claimed that the police Sub-Inspector sexually exploited her. The woman who filed the complaint went on to say that she was compelled to abort her pregnancy and that the Sub-Inspector arranged for a woman doctor without her consent.

She claimed that after the pregnancy was terminated, she felt weak and asked a police officer for help multiple times, but to no avail. The woman went on to say that she tried to file complaints with many police stations in the Kanniyakumari district, but they were ignored, so she went to the Kanniyakumari Chief Judicial Magistrate court.
