New Delhi: On Monday,  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah highlighted the achievements of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and said that the last five years were golden years for development. Addressing the gathering before the announcement of BJP’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, he said, “The journey of 2014-19 is such that whenever the history of India's development and credibility in the world of India is written then this tenure will be written in golden letters.”

He further said that the BJP has worked towards providing a decisive government under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in the last five years. The BJP chief also said that the Narendra Modi government has taken more than 50 major steps in the last five years, “which are going to be a part of history”. Asserting that the BJP has shown the world that no one can threaten India's security, Shah underscored that “all the citizens of India are assured of their safety and security due to their party’s decisive anti-terror decisions.”

He added"The development and security that India has seen from 2014 to 2019 is all thanks to the Narendra Modi government. The prime minister has taken decisions for the betterment of the country,”  Shah also recounted other achievements of Modi government including economic growth,  electrification of villages, sanitation facilities, gas connections, free health treatment to poor among others.

“Today most of the houses in the country have electricity. There are more than 80 million toilets, 70 million poor households have been given gas connections, free treatment for 50 million poor has been ensured.... India's economy was 11th in 2014, today we are the sixth largest economy in the world and are fast becoming the 5th largest economy,” he underlined. He also asserted that all sections of society have been considered for welfare under the ruling party's manifesto for the Lok Sabha election. "This manifesto had been written by Rajnath Singh after consulting at least six crore people."
