On Wednesday Vivek Agnihotri announced that The Kashmir Files will be re-releasing on January 19. The director said that the film will hit the big screens once again to mark The Kashmiri Hindu Genocide Day. Vivek Agnihotri took to the social media and wrote "#TheKashmirFiles is re-releasing on 19th January - The Kashmiri Hindu Genocide Day. This is the first time ever a film is releasing twice in a year. If you missed watching it on BIG SCREEN, book your tickets NOW." The director also shared a graphic which read: "By popular demand, people's blockbuster.
The Kashmir files actor Anupam Kher took to the social media and wrote, "Probably for the first time a film releases a second time in the same year. Please watch #TheKashmirFiles releasing tomorrow again to pay tribute to #33YearsOfKPEXodus."
Speaking of Kashmir Files was made on a budget of ₹15 crore and ended up grossing over ₹350 crore worldwide, largely due to strong word of mouth. The film, directed by Pallavi’s husband Vivek Agnihotri, dealt with the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley over 30 years ago. The film beat out several big releases like Ranbir Kapoor’s Shams Hera, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, and Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj in the box office race.
