These days almost every film called for Boycott from Akshay Kumar’s Rakshabandhan, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, Prabhas’s Adipurush, and now Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan for hurting religious sentiments. Political leaders also played very big roles in these trends. Various leaders also made remarks on movies for hurting religious sentiments.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to refrain from making unnecessary remarks on irrelevant issues such as movies like movies, a message that comes amid controversies around Bollywood flicks. During his address, Modi also noted that nearly 400 days are left for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and asked party members to serve every section with full dedication.

According to sources, PM Modi also cautioned the party members against any sense of "overconfidence" and cited the example of the BJP's loss in Madhya Pradesh in 1998 despite the unpopularity of then Congress government led by Digvijaya Singh. PM‘s remark comes after Shah Rukh Khan's film called for Boycott over Deepika’s saffron color Bikini.

This came after MP’s Minister Narrotam Mishra said, “I feel the title of the song 'Besharam Rang' is also objectionable in its sense. The song is made with a contaminated mentality, the actor and the actress are clad in green and saffron clothes in an objectionable manner.” The Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Govind Singh has also expressed his anger on the costumes in the song. "The scenes of the song and costumes are highly objectionable. Such things are not acceptable in Indian culture."
