Actress Sonia Balani, who played a negative role in the movie 'The Kerala Story', has made it clear that it was not intended to hurt anyone's sentiments. Sonia has said about this, 'When we made the movie, it was purely because it is the true story of those girls.' According to the actress, 'Sudipto sir has been doing research on this topic for 7 years. They showed us some pictures and videos and I immediately felt like doing it because it's such a sad story, and when I read the script, it touched me too.'

Sonia Balani further said, 'When I heard the script, I was shocked. When I read it, I felt that this is the true story of those girls, and for a greater cause. Even if a girl is saved from being brainwashed, it serves the purpose. Sonia Balani, breaking her silence on the controversy surrounding the film, has said, 'It is not against any community or religion. That was never the intention. If people just see this as a true story of what happened to those girls, then their feelings are not going to get hurt. There is no comment on any religion, but only on ISIS and terrorism..'
