Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer Pakistani film 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' was to be released in India on 2 October 2024. The film would have been the first Pakistani film to be released in India, which would have been shown in Indian cinemas after almost a decade. However, now it is not being released in India.

Why is 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' not releasing in India?

Zee Studios had acquired the distribution rights of the film, and the film was set to be released on a large scale in India. But, according to a report by news agency ANI, the film has not been allowed to be screened in Indian theatres. According to sources, this decision has been taken because Indian films have been banned in Pakistan since 2019. In response, India has also banned the release of Pakistani films. Due to this, 'The Legend of Maula Jat' will no longer be able to release in India.

Manufacturers announcement

Earlier, the makers of the film had announced on social media that the film will release in India on October 2, 2024. They wrote, "After two years, 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' is still unstoppable! Witness this epic saga on the big screen in India." However, now the Indian audience will not get a chance to watch the film in theaters.

Success of 'The Legend of Maula Jatt'

The film was released in Pakistan in October 2022 and was considered a huge success in South Asian cinema. Directed by Bilal Lashari, the film stars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan in lead roles. 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' has become Pakistan's highest-grossing film and has received a lot of praise worldwide.

The film has been a huge success not only in Pakistan but also internationally. The film has set new benchmarks for the Pakistani film industry and still holds the record for the highest-grossing Pakistani and Punjabi language film. This retelling of the 1979 Pakistani classic film 'Maula Jatt' is based on the characters of Nasir Adeeb and presented in a modern style. The success of 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' has given a new identity to the Pakistani film industry, but Indian audiences will not get a chance to watch this film in theaters anytime soon.
