Everyone suffers from hair loss. Normal hair loss is approximately 100-125 hairs per day. Fortunately, these are replaced. True hair loss occurs when lost hairs are not regrown or when the daily hair shed exceeds 125 hairs. Genetically, hair loss can come from either of the parent’s side of the family.

If you've noticed your hair is falling out more than usual, looks thinner, or seems to be growing more slowly, here are some of the most likely things that could be causing it.

Protein Deficiency

Our hair is made of a protein called Keratin. If we do not consume protein-rich foods, it makes the hair brittle and this leads to weak strands.

Dandruff

When the skin on the scalp is inflamed and itchy, and you frequently scratch the hell out of it, your hair may start to shed more than usual.

Regular heating and styling

The heat beaks down the hydrogen bonds deep inside of the hair cuticle, effectively altering the inner structure of the hair. Over time, the hair's protective cuticle becomes damaged, resulting in crispy ends and ultimately, hair breakage and hair loss.

Pregnancy

Most women experience hair fall before and after their delivery. During pregnancy, there is a peak in the hormone estrogen.

Stress

Too much stress on the body can result in hair loss, a condition known as telogen effluvium. Some hair loss is normal, but telogen effluvium results in excessive hair loss due to a disruption in the natural growth and rest cycle of hair.
