There has been a rapid increase in the number of divorces in the past over the world, which is why in almost all countries there has been a law for divorce and in every country for which there are different laws and traditions. Talking of India, divorce cases are increasing in our country too. On trivial matters, the husband and wife reach the court to get a divorce. There is a country in the world where there is no provision for divorce. In this country, there is a bill for divorce but there is no Divorce Law.
The Philippines is the only province in the world, where no divorce is allowed. The Philippines is part of a group of Catholic countries. There is no provision of divorce in this country because of the Catholic Church. In 2015, when Pope Francis visited the Philippines, he appealed to the religious leaders of the country to take a sympathetic view of those who want to get divorced. But being a 'divorced Catholic' in the Philippines is an insult. In the Philippines, only Christians are prohibited from getting divorced. According to their personal law, 6 to 7% of the Muslim population here can get a divorce. The Muslim community is being allowed to do so according to its religious rules.
It is also being said that not only this, the Christian leaders of the Philippines had also ignored this appeal of Pope Francis. People there are concerned that the Philippines is the only country in the world where divorce cannot be taken. Although the bill legalizing divorce has already been passed in the Philippines, it is not going to be legislated without the support of President Benigno Aquino.
