Beijing: The leading Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba is the most recent to jump on the generative AI bandwagon. The business acknowledged that it is working on a ChatGPT-like tool. Internal testing of the chatbot is currently underway. After the Chinese newspaper 21st Century Herald claimed that Alibaba was developing a chatbot similar to ChatGPT, the company issued a statement. Similarly, the Chinese tech giant Baidu is developing a tool.

With chatbots that can converse like humans, the AI market is about to become crowded. All thanks to OpenAI's ChatGPT, which swept the globe. Because of ChatGPT's success, other tech behemoths now know what the future will hold, and they all want a piece of that lucrative pie.

Alibaba has made the chatbot available for testing to employees, according to a Chinese newspaper. Additionally, it stated that the business intended to pair DingTalk, its messaging app, with the chatbot. Alibaba, however, has not offered any specifics regarding the features or expected release date of the tool. The business also declined to elaborate on how it would use the AI.

Since the establishment of DAMO in 2017, "future innovations such as large language models and generative AI have been our [focus] areas," according to an Alibaba spokesperson. Chinese tech stocks have risen over the past few days as speculation on the technology has increased due to the hype surrounding ChatGPT. Baidu, China's version of Google, is another major Chinese tech company that is working on a tool similar to ChatGPT. The ERNIE (Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration) bot from Baidu, also known as "Wenxin Yiyan" in Chinese, is scheduled to debut in March.

Due to the success of Microsoft-backed ChatGPT, Google has entered the fray with Bard, its own version. Testing is now possible with it. JD.com, a Chinese tech company, also declared its intentions to incorporate ChatGPT's procedures and technology into some of its goods.
