"Sun Temple Konark" located in Konark city of Odisha, India. It is dedicated to Surya dev was built in 13th century by the Hindu King Narisinha Dev first, of ganga dynasty, in commemoration of victory over Muslim army in year 1243 A.D. When temple construction work started it was on the banks of, now dead, river Chandrabhaga.

Another legend says that the original temple was built by SAMBA son of Shri Krishna. Samba had incurred the displeasure of Narad muni who revenged himself by getting Samba cursed with leprosy, anyhow after sometime when samba was found innocent he was advised to please Suryadev to cure himself from the disease.

Temple is constructed on the theme of a huge Chariot of 12 pairs of wheels, pulled by seven horses, as a symbol of seven days of a week. Wheels and walls of the temple are completely covered by exclusive carvings of man, women, flower etc. This temple is built in traditional kalinga architecture and is included in world Heritage sites.
