Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, known for her iconic performances and timeless beauty, has a massive fan following. She has acted in over 70 films in her cinematic career and has always captivated her fans with her grace, confidence, and charm. Now, actor-director Tinu Anand has made a surprising revelation about Madhuri, sharing that she once refused to work in a film alongside Bollywood's megastar, Amitabh Bachchan.
In an interview, Tinu Anand revealed that in 1989, he had cast Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in the film "Shanakht," marking the first time these two stars would share the screen. However, a dispute between the director and Madhuri arose on the very first day of shooting because Madhuri Dixit refused to do a scene in a bra. Tinu Anand explained, "I narrated the entire scene to Madhuri. I told her that she would have to remove her blouse because the scene required her bra to be visible. She responded by saying, 'I also told her that I wouldn't hide behind a bush or anything because you are presenting yourself to help a man who is trying to assist you. Therefore, this is a very crucial situation, and I want to shoot it on the very first day."
Then she said, 'Okay.'" After agreeing to the scene, Madhuri remained in the makeup room for an hour. When they went to fetch her, she said, "I don't want to do this scene." Tinu Anand had no choice but to ask her to leave. However, Madhuri eventually agreed to do the scene. But after five days of shooting, she left the film's set. It's noteworthy that Madhuri never spoke about this incident. The last time she was seen in a work front was in the web series "The Fame Game."
This incident sheds light on the challenges and dilemmas actors sometimes face in the film industry, even when working with esteemed colleagues. It also highlights the importance of an actor's comfort and consent when performing intimate or sensitive scenes.
