Loss of appetite
When the liver is damaged and is left untreated, it progresses into a liver disease. The individual may not feel like eating and there is rapid weight loss. They get so ill they have no energy to lift or keep the food.
Digestive problems
The liver plays an important role in digestion because it makes bile that help nutrients to process better and get absorbed by the small intestines. One may experience fatty food intolerance, abdominal bloating, constipation etc.
Exhaustion
Chronic fatigue, muscle and mental weakness, memory loss and confusion are common when a liver is in the process of damage. Liver disease-related chronic fatigue may be caused by changes in brain chemistry and hormone levels which result from impaired liver function.
Changes in urine color
If the urine is dark in color, could be possible that this is a sign of liver damage. This is because of the elevated levels of bilirubin in the bloodstream.
Itchy and irritated skin
The skin becomes very flaky, dry and red. Skin irritations occur due to lack of fluid.
Abdominal tenderness
Particularly in the upper right side corner of the abdomen, or the lower right portion of the rib cage: this can be a sign of liver damage.
