The name Company Quarter Master Havaldar Abdul Hamid Masoudi has been written in the history of the Indian Army. In 1965, Pakistan tried to create instability in India, in view of which Operation Gibraltar was started. Under this, the Pakistani army had planned to infiltrate and attack Jammu and Kashmir as well as to surround India on other fronts. During this, it was revealed by the captured Pakistani intruders that with the intention of camping on Kashmir, Pakistan has given training of war to 30 thousand soldiers. On 8 September 1965, Pakistan forcefully attacked Usal Utad village of Khemkaran sector. They were accompanied by infantry with Patton tanks. Indian jawans had three rifles and LMG to compete with Pakistan. Apart from this, there was gun mounted jeep.

In this horrific attack, he single-handedly blew up seven of Patton tanks in the 1965 war in Pakistan at Usal Utad village in Khemkaran Sector. Prior to this attack, these Patton tanks were thought to have been defeated. But the Indian Army was very weak in front of these tanks included by the Pakistan Army. With these tanks, India's infantry was very difficult to counter and at every turn, the shells fired by them were making a fatal attack on the Indian Army. Which was impossible for the Indian Army to face. Abdul Hamid, with his gun, mounted jeep, uprooted the feet of Pakistan's artillery by precisely aiming at seven tanks one by one. In which many attacks were made targeting them. In this, his other jeep riders were killed in the attack but despite this, Hamid did not lose his courage. He kept changing his position continuously.

There was a panic in the Pakistan Army. The Indian soldiers were increased manifold with Pakistani tanks collapsing one after the other and they were attacking them more quickly and they were wreaking havoc on Pakistan's army. On 9 September, a Pakistani Patton tank attacked Abdul Hamid's jeep, which went straight to the target and Abdul Hamid jumped several feet with his jeep. In this target, the enemy's gun was directly on his jeep and he was badly injured. After some time, he breathed his last on the battlefield and he died. On September 10, an official notice was received of his valour.
