The Prime Minister has announced to extend the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till November. Which has been welcomed by Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. He said that this is a historic step and it will benefit the poor people. Talking to news agency ANI, Union Food Minister Paswan said that he is thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this decision. He also said that before March 2021, 'One Nation One Ration Card' will be implemented.

In his statement, Paswan said, "I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the countrymen. There was confusion as to whether the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana would be carried forward. The Prime Minister has extended it till November. This is a historic step. This will help the poor people of the country. I am urging the state governments to distribute rations among the people and give benefits of the scheme to the poor. State governments can get ration from FCI godowns".

PM Modi in his address to the nation on Tuesday said clearly that by the end of November the benefit of the scheme is going to be given to the poor. The Prime Minister announced the expansion of Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Under this, food is being made available to the poor and needy. This scheme will provide free food grains to 80 crore people, which will now be applicable from July to November. The government will give 5 kg of wheat or 5 kg of rice to each family member for free during these five months, every family will get one kg of gram free every month. The Prime Minister further said that for the expansion of this scheme, additional expenditure of Rs 90,000 crore will be required.
