Patna: In Bihar, a war of words has once again begun between the BJP and the JDU. The JDU hit out at the BJP directly, saying the party should rein in such leaders due to which the BJP had to leave an old ally like the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. The JDU's attack comes in the wake of BJP's Sasaram MP Chhedi Paswan's statement that Nitish Kumar has a lust for power and he may also meet Dawood Ibrahim, who is the mastermind of the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai.

JDU national secretary Rajiv Ranjan Prasad asked whether Chhedi Paswan remembers Mehbooba Mufti, whom the BJP used to attack, but because of her lust for power, formed a joint government with her in Jammu and Kashmir. Before the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the PDP-BJP alliance formed the last government in Jammu and Kashmir. Rajiv Ranjan Prasad also reminded Paswan of former Maharashtra minister Eknath Khadse, who was expelled from the then BJP government after his alleged links with Dawood came to light.

At the same time, Chhedi Paswan had said after the attack on the JDU by Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal that the BJP's tenure with Nitish Kumar was a mistake. At the same time, he supported the power-sharing formula, which allowed the BJP to keep its CM for half the five-year term of the government.
