The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is located in Bengaluru and is looking for eligible candidates for two posts. These posts are Project Engineer - I (Electronics) and Project Research Assistant. Both the posts are under temporary contract of one year, which can be extended further based on performance.

Vacancy Details

1. Project Engineer – I (Electronics):

  • Educational Qualification: Candidate must have ME/M.Tech in Electronics with 1 year FPGA experience or BE/B.Tech with 3 years FPGA experience.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 30 years.
  • Salary: ₹75,000 per month.
  • Responsibilities: This position will involve working on electronics for astronomy equipment, including design and testing. May also require travel to field stations.

2. Project Research Assistant:

  • Educational Qualification: Must possess M.S. degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics after BE/B.Tech in relevant field.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 30 years.
  • Salary: ₹36,000 per month.
  • Responsibilities: This position will focus on the design and testing of astronomy equipment, and there is the possibility of travel to field stations.

Selection Process

  1. Application Review: Firstly, the candidates' applications will be subjected to a preliminary scrutiny, which will look at their qualifications and experience.
  2. Written Test/Interview: Shortlisted candidates may be called for written test or interview.
  3. Shortlisting: The Institute may shortlist the candidates on the basis of higher qualification and experience.
