The ambiguity about the excise duty is taking the heat up, here’s a thing form Finance ministry which sets a rest to it. The Finance Ministry in the regard to the GST Constitution Amendment Act, said on Monday there is no "legal infirmity" in the notifications issued by the government.
After the government informed some changes in the GST Act on Septmber 16th some experts have raised doubts about the legality of levying excise duty by the centre on different goods till applying the goods and service tax(GST) from April 1 in 2017.
"DoR (department of revenue) examined the validity and implications of notifications dated September 10 and 16 with respect to existing taxes imposed by the Union and states. There is no legal infirmity in these notifications," Hasmukh Adhia, the Revenue Secretary of India tweeted.
