There is no link between the drugs seized at Mundra Port and Narsapur: Gautam Sawang

Rajamahendravaram: Director General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang held a review meeting with police officials here on Tuesday. Talking to the media after the meeting, the DGP said that they are going to conduct a thorough investigation to nab the culprits. He assured that he would completely stop the illegal trade in ganja from the identified areas in the state.

He said that with the help of central agencies, they will crush the illegal trade and stop the unholy transactions taking place across the state. He also said that there is no link between the heroin seized at Mundra Port and the drug seized at Narsapur in West Godavari district. He said that they are taking necessary steps to stop the cultivation of ganja in the state with the help of all the departments. The DGP said that it has been brought to the notice of the police that some people from other states like Telangana, Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh are funding the cultivation of ganja in the state and action will be taken against them after they are booked.

 He said that he would work to stop the drug mafia in the state. He also said that hemp cultivation is going on for the last few decades on the borders of Andhra and Odisha. He made it clear that he would take necessary steps to stop the cultivation of cannabis at the borders. He said that a case has already been registered against 463 guilty of cultivating hemp and exporting it to other states.
