No report on bird flu in the state: Director of Animal Husbandry

Hyderabad: The state's animal husbandry department is on a severe alert in the wake of the spread of bird flu in various parts of the country. The veterinary staff in all districts are closely monitoring the poultry fields, dr. V. Lakshmanreddy said.

He said visera samples from birds reported in bird death were being sent to Telangana State Veterinary Biological and Research Institute in Hyderabad for bird flu testing. Poultry farm owners are also asked to be careful, and if any deaths are found, they should report to the authorities. He said there were no reports of bird flu in the state so far.

Locals were apprehensive that many chickens were killed on Sunday in a village in Nizamabad. Dr. Bharat, Joint Director of The Nizamabad Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department visited the spot and collected samples.

However, the cause of death is ranikhet disease between the chickens. This situation occurred in Timmajipeta in Kotkota and Nagerkurnool in Vanaparthi, many chickens died due to Ranikhet.

In each department, five members of the team, including a doctor, two compounders and two assistants, have been formed to inspect poultry fields regularly.
