New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday opposed in the Supreme Court a petition filed by Mahathag Sukesh Chandrasekhar seeking transfer of him to a jail outside Delhi. The Delhi Police has termed him a "vicious criminal" who does not respect the law at all. Delhi Police has said that Sukesh Chandrasekhar is misusing the process of law to increase his crime syndicate.

A bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and Bela M Trivedi is hearing a petition filed by Sukesh Chandrasekhar and his wife Leena Paul. The petition has sought the shifting of both of them to a jail outside Delhi citing the alleged threat to their lives. Advocate Rajat Nair, appearing for the central government, has filed an affidavit on this petition.

The bench posted the matter for further hearing in January and asked senior advocate R Basant, representing Chandrasekhar, to file a reply to the affidavit, the report said. In the affidavit, the Delhi Police told the court that the accused/petitioner number 1 is a vicious criminal.
