New Delhi: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the demand for declaring Ram Setu as a national monument. The top court has said that it will hear the matter on March 9. Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy demanded an early hearing of the matter from the apex court.

Subramanian Swamy told the Supreme Court that the central government has filed its reply. Let us inform that Subramanian Swamy, while filing his application, had said that in 2017 the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had talked about declaring Ram Sethu as an archaeological monument, but nothing has happened so far. Let us tell you that the hearing in this matter has already been done in the top court.

Earlier, on 23 January 2020, the BJP leader had said in the apex court that Ram Setu is a matter related to the faith of crores of Hindus. Therefore it should not be broken, but it should be declared a national heritage. On this, the court had said that it would consider Swamy's petition regarding Ram Setu after three months. But due to the crisis caused by the Corona epidemic, its hearing was delayed.
