The auto industry currently has strong competition in the mid-sized sedan segment in India, including Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki. The Honda City is ranked first with 2,461 units in the segment. However, sales of this car have declined. Despite a 37 per cent drop in sales, it is the top selling car in its segment. On the other hand, Maruti's Siyaz was the second notch. The car sold 2,322 units. The car's Year on Year (YoY) sale registered a growth of 47 per cent.

 

For your information, the third number in this list is Hyundai Verna. The car sold 2,271 units in June 2019. The car's year-on-year sales fell by 42 per cent. The worst decline in sales came in Toyota's Harris. The car's sales were reduced by 94 percent. Volkswagen sold 449 units of Vento and 612 units of Skoda Rapid in the segment. Nissan's Sunny sold 64 units. Have been under considerable pressure for quite some time. One reason is that carmakers are offering SUV cars at a very good price. This has led to a significant decline in the cell of the sedan. However, the next generation of May change the look of the segment once the Honda City is launched. The car is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of the year.
