Gorakhpur: Many states of the country facing heavy rainfall. Six villages, including Baharampur, have been inundated with the rise in the water level of Rapti River in Gorakhpur, UP. A population of around 3 thousand has been affected by this. If the water level of the Rapti river rises further, the population of about eight thousand of eight villages will also be affected. A boat has been arranged in the affected areas on behalf of the district administration.

The village of Baharampur, situated on the banks of Rapti river, adjacent to Rajghat bridge, is completely covered with water from Rapti river. The water of the river has also entered many houses. People have started building their accommodation on the dam of Rapti river. In the next few days, most people have brought their animals to the embankment near the bridge, in view of the suspicion of increasing the water level. 

People who are still in their homes have started resorting to the boat to reach the road. A similar situation is also in Khirvania, Jharwa, Senduli Benduli, Ajwania, Shergarh. Gautam Gupta of the disaster office said in his statement that no area of the village is submerged. Although the villages around have been flooded. Gautam Gupta further said that boats have been arranged around these villages as a precautionary measure.

On the other hand, if the water level of the Rapti river rises, then the villages of Manjharia Bistol, Badgo Dhobi Tola, Duhia, Semra Devi Prasad, Kathwatiya alias Kathur, Chakra Awwal, Maheva Muskil and Maheva Etamali will be affected. This will affect the population of about 9860 and it is very important to control it.
