INDUS-X Initiative Celebrates First Anniversary of US-India Defense Collaboration -The INDUS-X initiative, a collaborative effort between the United States and India aimed at enhancing defense innovation, marks its one-year anniversary. This milestone highlights the ongoing commitment of both nations to strengthen their strategic partnership through the Critical and Emerging Technology Initiative (iCET), as stated in a US Department of Defense press release.

Launched on June 21 last year, INDUS-X was inaugurated by the US Department of Defense and the Indian Ministry of Defence during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Washington, DC. The initiative's primary goal is to fortify the defense and strategic ties between the two countries.

Throughout the past year, INDUS-X has played a crucial role in fostering a defense innovation bridge under the iCET framework. This initiative was introduced by PM Modi and US President Joe Biden at the QUAD summit in Tokyo on May 24, 2022. INDUS-X has promoted collaboration in the private sector, encouraging partnerships among defense technology companies, investors, and researchers from both nations.

Looking forward, the third INDUS-X Summit is set to be held in Silicon Valley in September 2024. This event will focus on leveraging private capital to drive defense innovation and will be co-hosted by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and Stanford University. The summit underscores the robust defense and strategic relationship between India and the United States.

In recent years, the two countries have strengthened their defense cooperation through various significant agreements, such as the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) in 2016, the Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA) in 2018, and the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement (BECA) in 2020. These pacts have further cemented their bilateral defense collaboration.
