The birthday of veteran actor Manoj Kumar is on 24th July. He has won the hearts of the audience with his performance in many great films full of patriotism. Manoj Kumar started his career as an actor in the year 1957 with the film 'Fashion'. He also considers it as his favourite film. Manoj Kumar's role in most of the films was named Bharat, due to which people also started calling him 'Bharat Kumar'. In one of his interviews, Manoj Kumar had told that when Amitabh Bachchan was leaving Mumbai and going back to Delhi with his parents, frustrated by constant failures, he stopped Amitabh and gave him an opportunity in his film 'Roti Kapada Aur Makaan.' Manoj Kumar said, ''Even when people were taunting Amitabh for his failures, I had full faith in him that he would one day become a huge star.'' Manoj Kumar also directed this film. Manoj Kumar told that Dilip Kumar persuaded his wife Saira Banu to work in his film 'Purab Aur Paschim'. Thereafter, he cast Dilip Kumar in his film 'Kranti.'

Manoj Kumar says that he got the inspiration for the film from the then PM Lal Bahadur Shastri who gave the slogan 'Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan'. Manoj Kumar says that he had good relations with all the leaders. Apart from Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee also liked his films. Manoj Kumar worked in Raj Kapoor's very popular film 'Mera Naam Joker'. Manoj Kumar further said, "When the films of my close friends like Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and Pran came on television, I change the channel because the memories of those actors make me cry." Manoj Kumar was upset with actor Shah Rukh Khan when Shah Rukh made his film 'Om Shanti Om'. In one of the scenes, a scene imitating Manoj Kumar was kept. However, Shah Rukh later claimed that he had apologized to Manoj Kumar. Manoj Kumar told that the matter of displeasure with Shah Rukh has become old now and now he has forgotten the story.
