World Food Safety Day is celebrated every year on June 7. The reason for celebrating this day is to make those people aware of food security who fall prey to many diseases due to consuming bad food. It has to be ensured that every person is able to get an adequate amount of safe and nutritious food.
Every year, a theme is decided for this day. The safety of food benefits people, the planet and the economy immediately and for a long time. Like every year, this year too, all the events that are being held on the day of World Food Security Day are going to be based on the theme set.
History of World Food Security Day: This day works to make people aware of food security and the day was announced by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2018 in association with the Food and Agriculture Organization. This was to recognize the burden on the world with regard to food-borne diseases. The World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization work together to celebrate World Food Security Day in collaboration with other organizations related to the region. The World Health Assembly had decided to strengthen efforts toward food security to reduce the burden of foodborne diseases in the world.
