In India, the trend towards shopping malls has increased a lot in the last few decades. Yes, and you all must know that not only celebrities but also common people come here for shopping. On weekends and during festivals, a sizeable crowd is often seen here. Although they remained closed during the Corona period, when they opened, some of them did not have the same brightness as before. Yes, and this is the reason why 57 malls across the country have reached the verge of closure. This has been revealed in a recent report by international property advisory company Knight Frank.

Let us tell you that according to a report titled Reinventing Indian Shopping Malls, there are 271 operational shopping malls in India. Out of these, the condition of 21 percent, i.e., 57 malls, is very bad. Yes, and they have been called Ghost Mall in the report. Yes, in fact, the ghost mall is called that mall, which has more than 40 percent empty space. There could be many reasons for this: a lack of mall operators, the layout of the mall, business partners, its design, etc. In fact, there are ghost malls in eight big and small cities across the country. The National Capital Region (NCR) is ranked first in this. The maximum area covered by such malls is 3.35 million square feet.

The NCR includes Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram. IT city Bengaluru is at number two. Here, 1.38 million square feet of space is occupied by the Ghost Mall'. This is followed by 1.14 million square feet and 1.13 million square feet of vacant space in Hyderabad and Mumbai, respectively. Yes, and other Indian cities where Ghost Mall is located are Ahmedabad (0.37 million sq. ft.), Pune (0.37 million sq. ft.), Kolkata (0.32 million sq. ft.), and Chennai (0.33 million sq. ft.).
