As we know hoe the market is running due to semiconductor chips shortage it has become an important aspect of today's cars, because they are used in a variety of functions. The global shortage of these chips has hindered the manufacturing of practically every automobile manufacturer in the world, as some high-end models rely on them.

Skoda just released a podcast that explains how all OEMs employ chips within cars and how these components contribute to the vehicles. "Chips come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and the same is true for chips used in automobiles. They might be relatively simple components with a single transistor or elaborate integrated circuits controlling a complex system," noted Marek Jancák, Skoda's head of automotive manufacture. Almost every type of chip may now be found in a car.

Chips can be found in LED light components in cars, for example. An LED light unit has a chip that generates light for each diode within. In todays modern cars, LED headlights alone to account for hundreds of chips, while more complicated and sophisticated chips are in the dozens. To work, the headlights require control devices as well.
